[News] Super Junior, SHINee Meet With Terminally Ill Fan Donika Sterling from New York

Super Junior and SHINee have made terminally ill Donika Sterling′s dream come true. 

On June 16, 15 year old Donika Sterling embarked on the trip of her life as she traveled from New York to Korea for the first time in her life. 

For Donika Sterling who is bound to a wheelchair due to a muscle contracting disease, the trip was a dream turned into a reality for the K-Pop fan. 

On June 17, Donika Sterling was invited to the set of Super Junior’s new music video filming set where the Super Junior fan met the members of one of her favorite bands.

The Super Junior members gave Donika Sterling a specially prepared gift package, performed Donika Sterling’s favorite Super Junior song Sorry Sorry for her and took a commemorative photo with her. 

A few days later, on June 20, Donika Sterling then met with the SHINee members at the SM Entertainment office. 

She received a load of gifts including stuffed animals, a photo book, and other SHINee memorabilia. SHINee’s Taemin, Donika Sterling’s favorite member, even gifted her his own cherished bracelet during the memorable time. 

Before saying goodbye, the SHINee members performed Donika Sterling’s favorite SHINee song, Ring Ding Dong for her. 

Regarding her meeting with SHINee, Donika Sterling couldn’t hold back her excitement saying, “I’m so excited right now. I’m happy I was able to have this experience and to meet with SHINee was like a dream.” 

SHINee’s Taemin shared on their meeting saying, “We were so happy that Donika Sterling came to Korea to see us. We were touched she said she gained strength by listening to our music and we hope she will remain strong.” 

Member Key added, “We’re so happy to have spent time with Donika Sterling. If we are able to perform in New York we really hope to invite Donika Sterling.”

Donika Sterling was afflicted with her disease at a young age. After one of her grandmother’s patients, Herbert Black, the president of American Iron and Metal, was moved by the care he received from Donika Sterling’s grandmother during a hospital stay, he decided to help make the K-Pop loving Donika Sterling’s dreams come true.
